Love Bites (song)

Love Bites (English for " love bites " ) is a song by British rock band Def Leppard. It was released in August 1988 from her album Hysteria as a single. The song is Def Leppard's until today the only number-one hit in the U.S.. The title of the song was originally working title of the song " I Wanna be Your Hero", which was released in 1987 as the B - side of the Hysteria single.

Commercial success

After the huge success of the single Pour Some Sugar on Me, which reached number 2 in the USA, Love Bites was released in August 1988. After a few weeks it became her only number-one hit in the U.S.. It solved Bobby McFerrin Do not Worry, Be Happy from from the top. At the top of the single was a week and was then replaced by UB40s Red Red Wine. In the UK the single reached number 11 in the UK Top 40

The final sequence of Love Bites

The finale at the end of the song is very popular among fans. The lead singer of the band sings " If you've got love in your sights, watch out, love bites ", at the same time shouting the remaining band members ( according to a popular myth ) " Jesus of Nazareth, go to Hell". In their documentation on Hysteria, the band stated that the content was different. In fact, producer Mutt Lange is heard, the reply to the text line with " Yes it does, bloody hell". The final sequence of the song was recorded with a vocoder.
