Lucien Pissarro

Lucien Pissarro ( born February 20, 1863 in Paris, † July 10, 1944 in London) was a French painter, printmaker and wood engraver.

Life

He was the eldest son of Camille Pissarro, with whom he jointly trained his artistic skills and continued development.

He himself is attributed to the Impressionists and Neo -Impressionists, 1888 provides Pissarro with the avant-garde group Société des Vingt from Brussels.

From 1890 on he lived in London, where he was co-founder of the Camden Town Group. In 1916, he received British citizenship. In 1919 he founded the Monarro Group for the promotion of Impressionist painting, which was promoting among others the works of Monet and his father's.

Lucien Pissarro was married to Esther Bensusan. From this marriage the daughter Orovida emerged ( Orovida Camille Pissarro, 1893-1968 ), who was also active as an artist ( painter and etcher ).
