Lučina (Frýdek-Místek District)

Lučina is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south of Havířov and belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek.

Geography

Lučina is located on the left bank of the dam Žermanice in Beskidenvorland in Silesia.

Neighboring towns are Žermanice in the north, Soběšovice in the northeast, Volovec and Dolni Domaslavice in the east, in the southeast Vidíkov, Kocurovice and Horni Domaslavice in the south, Pazderna the southwest, Bruzovice in the west and Velicesta and Špluchov in the northwest.

History

For the domestic water supply to the industrial region of Ostrava, a dam was built from 1951 to the Lučina. The residents of the nearby wholly or partly in the reservoir villages Dolni Soběšovice, Dolni Domaslavice, Horni Soběšovice and Kocurovice were resettled in 1955. For this purpose, a total of 45 double houses built settlement for construction workers and some residents in 1954 has been created, which was expanded in the following years. On January 8, 1956 arose after the dissolution of communities Dolni Domaslavice and Soběšovice the community Lučina with 1250 inhabitants. Until the 1960s, the number of houses had grown to 228.

The infrastructure of the village is geared to tourism, there are campsites, hotels and holiday homes.
