Lucius Junius Gallio Annaeanus

Lucius Junius Gallio Annaeanus († 65) was a Roman politician in the first half of the 1st century.

His birth name was Lucius Annaeus Novatus, he was the eldest son of Annaeus Seneca ( Seneca the Elder), and thus an older brother of Lucius Annaeus Seneca ( Seneca the Younger ) and Annaeus Mela, the father of the poet Marcus Annaeus Lucanus ( Lucan ). He was adopted by Senator Junius Gallio, what led to the change of the name.

Gallio was a senator, quaestor and prefect. Pliny the Elder describes him as a lung disease. His brother Seneca dedicated to him de ira de vita beata and.
