Lucius Valerius Potitus

Lucius Valerius Poplicola Potitus was one of two Roman consuls, who, according to tradition BC replaced the Decemviri in the year 449. The other is supposed to be Marcus Horatius Barbatus been.

The two are traditionally regarded as the patricians, which brought about the reconciliation with the plebeians, although their historical existence is doubtful. The laws that are attributed to them are either predated or later date, for example, the Lex Hortensia from the period around 287 BC, were given the force of law with the plebiscites. Many reasons to believe that the consul couple of the year was 449 BC added later.
