Lucrezia d'Alagno

Lucrezia d' Alagno (* around 1430 in Naples, † September 23, 1479 in Ischia ) was an Italian noblewoman and mistress of King Alfonso V of Aragon, who was also King of Naples and Sicily.

Biography

Lucrezia was the daughter of Nicola d' Alagno, Signore di Torre Annunziata, and his wife Covella Toraldo. In 1448 Lucrezia was the mistress of King Alfonso V ( 1396-1458 ). He showered her family with lands and titles, they themselves got the island of Ischia as a gift. 1450 King Alfonso V asked the Pope Calixtus III. to annul his marriage to Princess Maria of Castile ( 1401-1458 ). But the reasons are not sufficient. Lucrezia was still treated like a queen at the Neapolitan court and made him a cultural center.
