Lüder (river)

Lueder source

The Lueder is a 36.4 km long tributary of the Fulda from the Vogelsberg in Hesse, Germany.

Geography

Course

It arises as Lüderbach on lying on the Rhine -Weser watershed Völzberger head north-east of Völzberg, community Birstein.

Another source stream originates in a source area in the western part of the district Bermuthshain in the Vogelsberg, a district of Grebe grove, near the border with Hartmannshain, in 540 meters. This source was made under the name Lueder source. The brook flows around there Springing Bermuthshain north in west-east direction, after which it flows to the first-mentioned source stream.

By Bermuthshain even still flowed to 1963 a small stream with a mill race. This arose in the so-called Weed, near the Hofreite Heckert. From the water of the mill-race two mills were powered. The two watercourses in the village were drained during the construction of local sewers in 1963 and have since disappeared.

Places

To its confluence with the Fulda Lueder flows through the districts of places Bermuthshain Crainfeld, Bannerod, Heisters, Tame, Blankenau, Grove cell, Kleinlüder, Uffhausen, Grossenlueder, Bimbach Lütterz and flows Lüdermünd in the Fulda.

The river is named for the villages Kleinlüder, Grossenlueder and Lüdermünd.

Tributaries

Almost parallel to Lueder flows Waagbach ( Waaggraben Ahlbach ). The Waagbach springs in the district Grebenhain in 615 meters and flows in a northeasterly direction, the district Grebenhain Vaitshain, Nösberts - Weidmoss, Bannerod. It flows between Steinfurt and Blankenau in the county boundary between Fulda and the Vogelsberg ( former Hesse- Prussian border ) in the Lueder. The lower reaches of the Waagbaches (the black river ) is called Schwarza.
