Ludger Rémy

Ludger Rémy ( born February 4, 1949 in Kalkar ) is a German conductor, musician and musicologist.

He studied in Freiburg im Breisgau harpsichord and continued his education then continued with Kenneth Gilbert in Paris. After teaching at several German universities (eg Folkwang, Essen, Wuppertal, Weimar, Bremen) 1998 he was awarded a professorship in Early Music at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden.

The Schwerkpunkt of his work is on the rediscovery and revival of the older German music; next he is dedicated to the history and literature research of the 17th and 18th centuries.

He has an international reputation as a conductor of older music. As a musician (harpsichord, fortepiano) he gives numerous solo concerts around the world. However, chamber music and songs, see his interest.

He was from 1995 to 2010 several times member of the jury Dreijärigen International Harpsichord and Hammerclavierwettbewerb in Brugge on the occasion of the Festival of Flanders.

In 1994 he founded for radio and sound recordings, the orchestra " Les Amis de Philippe ", named after Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, son of Johann Sebastian Bach.
