Ludlow (Colorado)

Ludlow is a ghost town in Las Animas County, Colorado, United States. Ludlow is located 19 km north of Trinidad, Colorado.

Ludlow is below the Sangre de Cristo Range to the output of two valleys, which were several major coal mines. They belonged to the Rockefeller family, particularly their business Colorado Fuel & Iron Company, headquartered in Pueblo. In the environment of the former place a variety of foundations of the mines and coking plants can be found in the valleys. From the former place are on the line of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and about a mile west of Interstate Highway 25 has the ruins of a number of wooden and brick structures.

The place is significant as the site of the Ludlow Massacre, a bloody battle between striking miners and the National Guard on April 20, 1914 25 dead. In the area of the former village now stands the Ludlow Monument to commemorate the victims. The site of the former Ludlow Tent Colony is designated as a National Historic Landmark since 2009.
