Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Neo-Latin Studies

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Neo-Latin Studies ( LBI- Neulatein ) based in Innsbruck is a research institute of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society. Partner organizations of the LBI- Neulatein are the University of Innsbruck, the University of Freiburg im Breisgau, the Austrian National Library in Vienna and the Comitato di Scienze Pontifical Storiche in Rome.

The Institute was founded in 2011 devoted entirely to the study of the Neo-Latin literature. The important role of Neo-Latin literature in the formation of early modern Europe in particular should be worked out. The LBI - Neulatein starts from the thesis that without the neo-Latin literature were not for today's Europe in this form. This thesis is elaborated with selected examples from the fields of politics, religion and history of mentalities.
