Ludwig Türck

Ludwig Türck ( born June 22, 1810 in Vienna, † February 25, 1868 ) was an Austrian physician.

Tuerk received his doctorate in 1830 in Vienna and later became director there a neurological department.

He is a pioneer of laryngology Through his research. He developed in 1857 a mirror for examining the larynx ( laryngoscope ), which in 1858 he presented the Society of Physicians in Vienna. About this invention, there was briefly a priority dispute, the Türck won with Johann Nepomuk Czermak. In the field of laryngology he also the first to describe the laryngitis sicca.

He also worked on neuroanatomy and neuropathology. The temporal cerebrum railway bridge bearing his name.
