Ludwig zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg

Prince Ludwig Adolf Friedrich zu Sayn -Wittgenstein- Sayn ( born June 8, 1799 in Kovno, † June 20, 1866 in Cannes) was the eldest son of the Russian Field Marshal Peter Fürst zu Sayn -Wittgenstein and the Countess Antonia Snarska.

In 1821 he represented Russia at the coronation of George IV of the United Kingdom. His career ended abruptly, however, in 1826 when it became known that he sympathized with the Decembrists. The influential position and the great merits of his father spared him from punishment. In 1828 he married Princess Stefanie Radziwill, with donated a large private estate of Europe in the marriage, about 12,000 sq km area with numerous towns and cities in the area of ​​the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Among other things, these included the Mir Castle Complex, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site today.

Following Stefanie's death in 1832 he married in 1834, only 18 -year-old princess Leonilla Bariatinskaia that after 50 years, widow died in her 102 years in 1918.
