Lugo (Emilia-Romagna)

Lugo is a municipality in the province of Ravenna with 32,016 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Italian region Emilia -Romagna.

It is in the northwest of the fertile plain between the rivers Santerno and Senio, the Ravenna surrounds.

The districts are: Ascensione, Belricetto, Bizzuno, Cà di Lugo, Campanile, Chiesa Nuova, Ciribella, Giovecca, Passogatto, San Bernardino, San Lorenzo, Santa Maria in Fabriago, San Potito, Villa San Martino, viola, and Voltana Zagonara.

Borders the following municipalities: Alfonsine, Bagnacavallo, Bagnara di Romagna, Conselice, Cotignola, Fusignano, Massa Lombarda, Mordano (BO) and Sant'Agata sul Santerno.

Lugo is a center of fruit growing.

History

Lugo was mentioned for the first time the Great in the year 782 by Pope Hadrian I. against Charles.

Events

Every Wednesday will be held from the late 18th century and its surroundings one of the largest markets in Italy, with more than 600 suppliers in Pavaglione.
