Lugos

Lugo is a commune with 849 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Gironde department in the region of Aquitaine. It is part of the Regional Natural Park Landes de Gascogne.

History

1849 pulled the whole community to Lugo to a different place, the old village of Vieux Lugo was abandoned.

To the municipality of Lugo part of the hamlet of La Gare de Lugo, which is located about 6 kilometers southwest of the center of Lugo. Gare de Lugo gets its name from the railway line that runs through the village. Until the 1970s, there was a railway station Gare de Lugo.

Attractions

The Church of Vieux Lugo dates from the 11th century. It is decorated with wall paintings from the 15th century and was established in 1957 as a monument historique (historic monument) classified.
