Luis Ayala (tennis)

Luis Alberto Ayala Salinas ( born September 18, 1932 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean tennis player.

He played from 1950 as an amateur, before he was active until his retirement as a professional from 1962. In individual he reached the final of the 1958 and 1960 French Open, but lost each against Mervyn Rose in three and Nicola Pietrangeli in five sets. In 1956, he won at the side of Thelma Coyne Long, the mixed doubles of the French Open.

Between 1952 and 1960 graduated from Luis Ayala 18 matches for the Chilean Davis Cup team. He won 27 of his 33 single and 10 double his 18 games. He is the player with the most individual wins and most wins overall in the Chilean Davis Cup history.
