Luís Carlos Novo Neto

Luís Carlos Novo Neto (born 26 May 1988 in Póvoa de Varzim ) is a Portuguese football player.

Career

In the club

Neto played in the Youth for Varzim SC, the largest club of his hometown. For the 2006/07 season he signed his first professional contract with the second division. Initially used only sporadically, he eventually rose in the season 2010/ 11 for regular players. However, despite its convincing performance Neto could not prevent the club relegated to the third tier at the end of the season. Then the defender was courted by some Portuguese first division and changed before the start of the 2011/12 season finally on the island of Madeira to Nacional Funchal. There Neto won a regular place immediately and denied 25 league games. At the end of the season showed both FC Porto and Arsenal interested in signing the young Portuguese. However Neto opted for a change in the Italian Serie A, and was taken under contract for 1.7 million euros from AC Siena. There, too, he was a regular in the first half of the season, before he again for around six million euros moved country and club in February 2013 and a contract at Zenit Saint Petersburg signed.

In the National Team

Neto played for the U20 and U21 national team of his native country. In October 2012, he was appointed national coach Paulo Bento for the first time in the senior team. His debut took place on February 6, 2013 as part of a friendly against Ecuador.
