Luis Miró

Luis Miró Doñate ( born March 3, 1913 in Barcelona, † September 15, 1991 ) was a Spanish football goalkeeper and coach.

Career

As a player Miró was careful only for a first division club goal, that of FC Barcelona, ​​from 1939 and 1943. His first game in La Liga, he played in the 0-1 defeat against Espanyol on 3 December 1939 at the same time the first League Barcelona after the Spanish civil War. In the first two years Miró was only second choice behind Juan José Nogués, in his last two years he was then the number one goal.

With Barcelona he won the 1942 Spanish Cup. Furthermore, Miró was the goalkeeper who stood between the posts at the scandalous 1:11 against Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup 1942/43. Barcelona won the first leg 3-0 and was the break of the second leg 1-0 in front, as Franco's people broke into the dressing room of the Barça players and threatened them with death if they should not lose.

1949 Miró was coach of Terrassa FC for three years. In the season 1952/53, he trained CE Sabadell. Then he coached Real Valladolid, FC Valencia, Celta Vigo and Sevilla FC. In June 1961 Miró took over as coach of the hapless Enrique Orizaola at FC Barcelona. However, Miró remained as its predecessor only five months for 13 league games in office before he was replaced by László Kubala. In the season 1962/63 he was coach of Olympique Marseille. End of the season 1963/64, Miró was coach of AS Roma and won with the club won the Coppa Italia, as Rome in the league but only twelfth was, he was replaced after the season by Juan Carlos Lorenzo. Miró's last coaching position was CD Málaga in the 1965/66 season in which he descended with his team in the second division.
