Luis Royo

Luis Royo ( born May 20, 1954 in Olalla, Teruel Province ) is a Spanish painter who devotes his works to the Fantasy. He is the most well-known representative of the heroic fantasy art. His main subjects are women and a grim end.

Biography

From 1971 to Royo studied Technical Drawing, painting, decoration ( a sub- specialist ) and interior ( an architectural related subject) in the Industrial Mastery School and the Applied Arts School in Zaragoza. He participated in the following years on a series of national painting competitions. In 1977 he began to paint large-format images with different techniques, all of which were also exhibited, such as Zaragoza.

Since 1978 drew comics for different fanzines Royo. 1980 were shown at an exhibition in Angoulême in France some of his works.

1983 marked the real beginning of his career as an illustrator, along with " NORMA Editorial ". His works have appeared worldwide in galleries and fanzines. He worked at that time in the United States, England, Sweden and in his home country, painted covers for books by " Tor Books ," " Berkeley Books ," " Avon " and Warner Books, and worked as a designer of Spanish Heavy Metal Magazine.

Since 1990, the number of his own free plants rose when he started to publish these in picture books ( art books ). He also continued to work as a draftsman for cover (eg for the Italian band Skylark ) books and comics, but is present as a freelance artist to watch. His works are mainly published in art books, but are also available as a poster.
