Lukas Müller (ski jumper)

Lukas Müller (born 14 March 1992 Villach) is an Austrian ski jumper.

Career

Lukas Mueller, who drives since the age of three ski, jumped for the first time at the age of 12 years from a ski jump. Within a short time he was able to improve its performance and jumped so already half a year after his first jump in October 2004 by the K90 ski jump his home club SV Villach.

He was first in 2005 Carinthian national champion and Landescupsieger. He could repeat this success in 2006. He was at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA in the U16 age group in the French Bois d' amont 2007 First Team and individual competition on the normal hill of third parties. In 2007 he was also fifth in the Austrian school championships.

His first international jumping graduated Müller Juniors Cup on March 3, 2007 in Toblach. He finished the jump on the normal hill on the 9th Place. In 2007 he start shortly thereafter in some FIS races, but could not achieve significant results there. In 2008, he jumped at the Alpen Cup and there was more jumping, including in Oberstdorf and win Seefeld in Tirol. Due to this performance, he was accepted in December 2008 into the Austrian team for the Continental and jumped for the first time December 27, 2008 in Engelberg, ranked 37 on the large hill. In the Austrian championship in ski jumping in Bischofshofen 2008 he was eighth. On 17 January 2009 he could jump with second place on the podium for the first time during COC in Bischofshofen. In the second competition a day later he was able to repeat this result.

At the Junior World Championship 2009 in Štrbské Pleso he became world champion on the normal hill and with the team. In the first Continental Cup competition after the World Cup for the first time he won a competition in Iron Mountain. In the second jump in Iron Mountain, he stood at the top of the podium. On February 21, he won his third COC jumping in Brotterode and was a day later in the second competition of third parties. This continued strong performance meant that he was accepted for the World Cup squad for the jumping part of the Nordic Tournament on 6 March 2009 in Lahti, Finland. In qualifying he was surprisingly 21 and ended the competition on March 7, 2009 on the 44th. Once again he was able to qualify in the qualifying for the World Cup in Kuopio on March 9, with No. 26, he could reach the 28th place and thus his first World Cup points in the final jump.

After two victories in the Continental Rovaniemi, Vikersund at the beginning of the Olympic season 2009/2010 Müller was appointed to the Austrian World Cup squad again for the Four Hills Tournament. At the opening event in Oberstdorf, he was able to achieve sixth place and his best World Cup ranking after a 17th place in qualifying in competition. At the end of Müller Rank 19 achieved in the tour standings. In July 2013, Müller moved in a practice crash to a broken collarbone, and he operated on and had to take a multi-week break.

His personal trainer at SV Villach is Peter Berger, who already Thomas Morgenstern and Martin Koch coached.

Müller, who now lives in Spittal an der Drau, has an older sister and an older and a younger brother. His younger brother, Alexander is also a ski jumper.
