Luke Charteris

Luke Charteris Caley ( born March 9, 1983 in Camborne, Cornwall, England) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays in the second row. He is active Newport Gwent Dragons and for the Welsh national team. With its height of 2.06 m, it is a valuable players especially in the alley.

Charteris was born in England but grew up in Wales. He began his career in Newport in 2003. Among his first national commitment, he came in November 2004 with the defeat against South Africa. Previously he had played for the Under-19 and Under-21 team in the country. In the season 2006/ 07 he the decisive try was in the game against Rugby Calvisano to the last place in the Heineken Cup.

In November 2007, Charteris returned after two years back in the national team and appeared as a substitute in the match against newly crowned world champions South Africa. Under the new national coach Warren Gatland he came to wider range of applications, so it was used in four of five games of the Six Nations 2009.
