Lumarzo

Lumarzo ( Ligurian Lumarsu or Lûmarso ) is a municipality in the province of Genoa with 1558 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley Fontanabuona near the creek Lavagna. The distance to the Ligurian capital Genoa is approximately 33 km.

Lumarzo forms, with a further 16 municipalities, the Comunità Montana Fontanabuona.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity Lumarzo Zone 4 has been assigned. This means that the municipality is in a seismically safe zone.

Personalities

Lumarzo is the birthplace of Natalina Garaventa (1896-1977), who emigrated to the United States. When Natalie ( "Dolly" ) Sinatra, she was the local chairman of the Democratic Party in Hoboken, New Jersey and the mother of Frank Sinatra.
