Career

Luo Xuejuan excited for the first time at the World Swimming Championships in 2001 in Fukuoka international attention when she became world champion over 50 and 100m breaststroke. In addition, they could each win a bronze in the 200m breaststroke and as part of China's 4 x 100 -meter medley relay. In December of the same year they fixed in Shanghai a new world record over 50 meters breaststroke. Only a month later, she succeeded again to swim faster by nine hundredths of a second in Paris. However, this record lasted only four days before the Swede Emma Igelström in Stockholm this record improved by a further five hundredths of a second.

2002, at the Short Course World Championships in Moscow, she could not win more than 50 meters breaststroke against Igelström and became Vice World Champion. In addition, she won a bronze in the 100m breaststroke and the 4 x 100 -meter medley relay.

In addition to the three world titles at the World Swimming Championships 2003 in Barcelona on 50 and 100m breaststroke, as well as the 4 x 100 -meter medley relay, the Olympic gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, is one of their career highlights.

After Athens, she could not win a major title more. One reason for this is the injury to the ankle, which prevented a better result than the fourth place in the 100 meters and the seventh rank over 50m breaststroke at the 2005 World Championships in Montreal.
