Lupita Jones
María Guadalupe Jones Garay ( born September 6, 1968 in Mexicali, Mexico) became the first Mexican woman who was chosen as Miss Universe in 1991.
In September 1990 she won as a representative of the Mexican state of Baja California titled " Señorita Mexico " (Miss Mexico). The following year, on 17 May 1991, she won the "Miss Universe" beauty pageant in Las Vegas against 72 competitors inside.
In 1994, she founded a company called Promocertamen and created the beauty contest " Nuestra Belleza Mexico" as the official national Mexican beauty contest.
Jones studied business administration and completed a postgraduate course in Mexicali and was a successful businesswoman.
