The Lusitanian language is an extinct language that was formerly spoken in the west of the Iberian peninsula by the Lusitanians.

During an assignment to the Indo-European languages is considered safe, the further classification of the Lusitanian language is controversial. An affinity with the Celtic languages , which were also common in this area, has not yet been proven. Although some Lusitanian terms of other mainland Celtic languages are similar, but the Lusitanian receives Indo-European * / p /, which is lost in the Celtic languages .

The language is supported by a few brief writings which have been dated to the 1st century AD. These were written in Latin alphabet. Also exist in the region place names Lusitanian origin.
