Lütetsburg

The community Lütetsburg ( East Frisian - Low German Lütsbörg ) is a member of the Association of Municipalities in the district of Aurich Samtgemeinde Hage Ostfriesland in northern and lies between the town of Norden and the spots Hage. Geology and Geography

History

In Lütetsburg before 1373 was a " Uthof " ( = Bailey ) the chief race Manninga. This built Lütet Manninga in 1400 from the castle. He thus became the namesake of the evolving around the estate village. This is first mentioned in 1433 as Lützborch, Lutzborch or Lutetzborch. The present name is officially since 1852. Lütetsburg is since 1588 the seat of the Counts of Inn and Knyphausen.

Attractions

The Lütetsburg castle its name to the town, is a moated castle with bailey and significant park.

An extraordinary garden art depicts the 1790-1813 scale of Edzard Moritz Freiherr von Inn and Knyphausen landscape garden at Castle dar. With 30 acres of mature trees, rare exotics, rhododendrons and azaleas, he is one of the largest in Northern Germany. The Lütetsburg Park is one of the few remaining on the continent examples of early romantic garden type.
