Maarheeze

Maarheeze (on Brabantish: Mares ) is a district of the municipality Cranendonck in the Dutch province of North Brabant. By 1996 Maarheeze was a separate municipality. The village has 5260 inhabitants.

Origin of the name is Maarheeze Maar ( German: Moor ) and heeze ( German: pass). The village has emerged as Brink and 1289 Maarheeze was mentioned for the first time with William of Cranendonck as squire. Together with the adjacent village Soerendonk Maarheeze was placed under a joint trial by jury. The village has developed along the A2.

Area attractions include the neo-Romanesque St. Gertrude in 1910 and the pastorate in the year 1821.
