The Macapa Airport ( ICAO code: SBMQ, IATA code: MCP, Portuguese: Aeroporto Internacional de Macapa ) is the airport of the Brazilian city of Macapa. It is located about three kilometers north of the city center at an altitude of 17 meters AMSL.

Flight operations

The airport is approved for VFR and for IFR flights. The regular opening times go from 11-15 and 16-20 UTC clock, but also night flights are possible.

Infrastructure

The only airstrip runs in east-west direction (08 /26). It is 2100 meters long and has an asphalt surface. Direction of landing 08 is a PAPI system. As navigation aids serve an NDB and a VOR / DME.

Running parallel to the airstrip runways are not available. To get to the landing to the south of the runway lying ahead, an aircraft must therefore reverse and up to one of the two about branching in web center taxiways roll back ( backtrack ) after being rolled out on the track. Connected to the apron are a freight and a passenger terminal.
