Mack Hellings

Mack Hellings ( born September 14, 1917 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, USA, † November 11 in Kern County, California, USA, 1951 ) was an American race car driver.

Career

Mack Hellings began his career in 1948-1951 in 21 races of the AAA National Series. His greatest successes were two second places achieved in June 1948 on routes from Milwaukee and Langhorne.

Four times he stood by the 500 miles of Indianapolis at the start. A fifth place in 1948 in a Kurtis Kraft KK2000 Offenhauser was his best finish. 1949 caused a broken valve on the engine that he could be placed only as 16. In his third start in 1950, he reached on a Kurtis Kraft 2000 Offenhauser with a gap of six rounds on the winner Johnnie Parsons rank 13 in 1951, this time on a Deidt - Offenhauser, he retired in lap 18 with a piston damage from ( place 31).
