Madera AVA

Madera AVA ( recognized since 12 December 1984) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is predominantly in the eponymous administrative region Madera County, but also in the north of Fresno County.

With a recognized area of ​​over 93,000 hectares ( 230,000 acres ), of which more than 15,300 hectares ( 38,000 acres ) planted with vines, the region is in the heart of the Central Valley to the largest Rebproduzenten California. Almost 10 percent of the berry is harvested material from California here. A very warm climate combined with high-yield varieties and adequate irrigation allows growers to achieve the highest yield performance at the expense of good quality. Much of the harvest, therefore, goes into production cheaper wine by the glass, which are here called jug wine. Few producers fill under the name of the protected designation of origin Madera AVA from bottled wines.
