Madhubala

Madhubala ( Hindi, मधुबाला, Madhubala, born February 14, 1933, Delhi, † February 23, 1969 in Mumbai, real name: Mumtaz Jehan Begum ) was an Indian film actress.

She was born the fifth of eleven children of a poor family. As a child star she started in 1942 to work at Bombay Talkies. The name Madhubala got them from Devika Rani. With Mahal (1949 ) next to Ashok Kumar was a movie star. In Mehboob Khan's Amar (1954 ) she appeared with Dilip Kumar. In the Bollywood of the 1950s she also played together with Guru Dutt ( Mr. & Mrs. '55 ), Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor. Her main roles include the courtesan Anarkali in Mughal -e -Azam (1960 ) with Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Durga Khote.

Madhubala was married to Kishore Kumar since 1961. She died of a chronic heart disease.
