Madison Bowey

Madison Bowey ( born April 22, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays on the position of the defender. He is now with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League ( WHL) under contract. Bowey has been selected by the Washington Capitals in a total of 53 out in the NHL Entry Draft in 2013.

During the 2012/13 season he played for the Canadian national ice hockey team at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in both 2012 and at the World Ice Hockey Championship U18 Juniors of 2013; at both tournaments he won the gold medal. For the NHL Draft in 2013, it was called Top Prospect.

Career

Junior Leagues

Bowey has been selected by the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL Bantam Draft 23 position in 2010. He played late in the season three games for the team, where he was able to record an assist. In the following season, he scored eight goals in 57 games overall and 21 assists (plus -3 footprint and 39 penalty minutes ). He scored an additional goal in the playoff series against the Portland Winter Hawks. He also represented the Team Canada West at the World U -17 Hockey Challenge in 2012, where in five games, he scored a goal. In the 2011/12 season he played 69 games in which he recorded 12 goals and 30 assists (plus -41 balance ). In the playoffs against the Seattle Thunderbirds and arch-rivals Kamloops Blazers, he scored four goals in 11 additional matches.

Internationally

Bowey played for the Canadian national ice hockey team at the Ice Hockey World Championship U18 Juniors 2013. In the final match against the United States, he scored the goal for 2-2 before the Erstrundendraftpick the Toronto Maple Leafs, Frédérik Gauthier, the all-important goal scored.
