According to the census of 2000, Madison has 2367 inhabitants, of whom 1,234 men and 1,133 women.

History

Madison was founded in May 1867 by Henry Barnes, who pitched on the banks of Union Creek his camp and 20 German families from Wisconsin. It was named after U.S. President James Madison. On October 12, 1875 Madison was elected county seat of Madison County. The main reason for this decision was that Madison possessed since 1874, the Madison Review on a newspaper ( until 1878 ). Her successor was the Chronicle from in 1879. Was officially registered as a city of Madison on July 6, 1876., The Union Pacific Railroad Association from 30 December 1879, the city of Columbus in the south and the north Norfolk. This spurred the growth of the city, so that towards the end of the nineteenth century a population of 300 was recorded. Today, agriculture ( livestock, meat processing, dairy ) is the largest economic factor in Madison.
