Madrid-Marathon

The Madrid Marathon (Spanish Maratón de Madrid) is a marathon in Madrid, held since 1978, first in May, since 1983 in April. By 2007, he was the greatest marathon including Spain, before he was replaced by the one in Barcelona in 2008.

The current path is in the form of an eight. The start is on the Plaza de Colón, initially via the Paseo de la Castellana to the north, past the Santiago Bernabeu stadium of Real Madrid and the twin towers of the Puerta de Europa to the northernmost point of the route at the Torre Espacio. Now, the route turns to the southwest and turns in an arc along the Faro de Moncloa and the Palacio Real to the southernmost point of the route at the Plaza de la Villa. About the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza de Cibeles, it is now at the starting point of the route passing to the east. From the Calle de Juan Bravo, turn at the half-way mark to the north on Calle Príncipe de Vergara. About the Calle de Arturo Soria can be reached at km 30 Calle de Alcalá, through which it goes to the easternmost point of the route before making back to the Calle de Alcalá for a loop at the bullring of Las Ventas. Follow it now westwards to the target in the Parque del Buen Retiro. The profile of the course is pretty wavy for a city marathon, a total of about 300 meters in altitude to deal with.
