Mae On District

Amphoe Mae On ( in Thai: อำเภอ แม่ ออ น ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) is the province of Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise): Amphoe San Kamphaeng and the Doi Saket in Chiang Mai, Mueang Pan and Mueang Lampang Lampang Province, and Ban Thi, Lamphun and Mae Tha Mueang Lamphun Province.

History

Amphoe Mae On was 30 April 1994 at first as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by six Tambon San Kamphaeng were separated.

On 15 May 2007, the Thai government had decided to bring all 81 King Amphoe "normal" in the Amphoe status to simplify administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette " Issue 124 chapter 46" of 24 August 2007, this decision officially entered into force.

Management

The circle is divided into six subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 49 villages ( Muban ).

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
