Maffeo Gherardi

Maffeo Gherardi OSB Cam ( * 1406 in Venice, † September 14, 1492 in Terni ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was Patriarch of Venice.

Gherardi was abbot of the monastery of St. Michele on Murano in Venice and Abbot General of the Camaldolese. In 1467 he was raised to the Patriarch of Venice. Pope Innocent VIII appointed him on March 9, 1489 in pectore cardinal. His appointment, as Innocent VIII in July of the same year, should be made ​​public at the next consistory. If the Pope would die before the holding of such a consistory, the appointment Gherardi equally as published should be considered so that it could participate in the next conclave - which was done accordingly.
