MAG (video game)

MAG is a first person shooter for online multiplayer by Zipper Interactive for the Playstation 3 was on 26 January 2010 in the United States, on January 29 in Europe and published on February 11, 2010 in Australia and New Zealand. Sony announced on July 17, 2013, set the server operating on 28 January 2014. As a pure online multiplayer game MAG is no longer playable after that date.

Play

The game is characterized mainly by the amount of players that can be online at the same time in a game. So it is possible that 256 players from two factions, which may linger at the same time on a server. Due to the amount the player wins the organization of the fractions compared to a conventional first-person shooter, in importance. The fractions are organized as follows:

  • Squad leader commanding a squad of eight
  • Platoonleader commanded four squads
  • Company Leader commanded four platoons

Fractions

When creating an account, the player for one of the three factions must decide:

  • SVER ( Seryi People's Executive Response) with the seat in Chechnya
  • Valor with the seat in Alaska
  • Raven with its seat in Austria

Balancing problem

The game suffers from a fundamental imbalance in the strength of the fractions. So the Sver wins significantly more games than Raven and Valor. This is particularly disturbing because there is no way to switch between games, the fraction without completely re-register. The reason for the superiority was, among other things on different cards the Sver prefer. This disadvantage has now been removed since all factions now equally often play in all cards.
