Maggot
As Made is called a larva of Diptera, as a fly. It is distinguished from all other insect larvae by the total absence of head capsule and of real limbs. Made -type, ie legless larvae are also found in many other Holometabola - orders, for example, bees, ants, or longhorn beetles.
Some maggots, such as mosquitoes, have instead a lack of legs stub feet with which they can slide over the ground. The mouthparts of these maggots are usually pincer-like mouth hooks, which are located in the throat ( Cephalopharyngealskelett, with the pharyngeal ganglion ). Some Diptera, for example Brachycera are very nimble in oviposition ( " Chuck ": see blowfly ) on carrion in the household on meat or cheese, some give birth to maggots ( Larviparie ) or pupae ( Pupiparie ), which is why you here earlier preferred "evidence " looked for the constant possibility of spontaneous generation of organisms. There are also (eg fungus gnats ) Paedogenese ( maggots or pupae reproduce asexually, without Imaginalstadium ). From the maggots of flies mostly Tönnchenpuppen arise ( in the ground).
As an adaptation to different ecological demands the further features of the maggots vary greatly. So there are among them animals that live in the mud or water and special breathing tubes have formed (see Mistbiene ). The breathing tube ( trachea ) by pulling the whole body and end at the rear end of the body. Thus, these maggots can eat and breathe while they are stuck headfirst in nutrients at the same time. The openings ( spiracles ) in the respiratory tubes are equipped with a special locking mechanism, so dirt and water can not get into the tracheal system.
Other maggots have strong jaw hook and live like the cheese fly maggots and flesh fly maggots as scavengers in decomposing bodies or as parasites or in live animals ( myiasis, botfly maggots ). Therefore, maggots can also be occasionally used specifically in medicine (see maggot therapy ). Sometimes maggots occur in large quantities, in particular as "Made Carpet ." Made In these carpets the animals constantly rubbing against each other, so that for a sensible heat and on the other an audible noise arises. The armyworm is a tight collection of jointly advancing fungus gnat larvae.
For the Healing of inflammation found maggots also apply. Especially in chronic injury in diabetic wounds maggots can often better and faster to clean than conventional means, because inflammation often occur in poorly perfused sites where antibiotics work poorly.
