MagicGate

MagicGate is a digital copy, which was developed by Sony. It is used in Sony's Memory Stick, and at the game console PlayStation 2 in order to prevent the illegal copying of digital content.

Not all memory sticks have MagicGate technology, especially that of an older model year usually have no such copy protection on. Memory Sticks without this technology to the end user quite advantageous because MagicGate is only a copy.
