Magnoncourt

Magnoncourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Magnoncourt situated at an altitude of 252 m above sea level, 1 km northeast of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse and about 32 km north- northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the extreme north of the department, in a plane at the edge of the plateau of the Voge, near the mouth of Ruisseau du Chanet in the Semouse.

The area of ​​6.67 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the gently undulating countryside on the outskirts of the Voge. The main part of the territory occupied by the alluvial plain of the Semouse, which is on average 245 m. From the north of the stream Ruisseau du Chanet enters this level. Flanked the plain to the west of an existing shell limestone of Middle Triassic plateau, which is covered by the Grove of the Bois des Gouttes ( to 280 m). The western boundary forms the Ruisseau des Lauchères. To the north, the municipality's area extends into the valley of the Ruisseau le Petit (inflow of the Ruisseau du Chanet ), which is dammed up to a 5 -acre pond. In the northeast of communal land in the Bois du Rogney, in the 291 meters, the highest elevation of Magnoncourt is achieved ranges. This hill is constructed of red sandstone of the Lower Triassic.

Neighboring communities of Magnoncourt are Fleurey -lès -Saint -Loup and Aillevillers -et- Lyaumont in the north, the east, and Corbenay Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse the south and west.

History

Remains of a Roman road traffic in the Bois du Rogney evidence of an early inspection and settlement of the area. In the Middle Ages Magnoncourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the lords of Saint- Loup. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the years 1783 and 1784 Magnoncourt was hit by two heavy village fires. Today Magnoncourt is a member of the 12 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Val de Semouse. Ecclesiastically the place belongs to the parish of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse.

Population

With 432 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Magnoncourt one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1906 545 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded after a slight increase in population during the 1960s, since the mid- 1970s. Today, the settlement area of Magnoncourt is almost completely conjoined with that of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse.

Economy and infrastructure

Magnoncourt has long been a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Since the 1960s, a commercial and industrial zone has been developed at the municipal border with Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse. Here, various companies have settled, including a cleaning company and a chair factory. In recent decades, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the main road D417, which runs from Luxeuil -les- Bains to Bourbonne -les -Bains. Further road links exist with Bains- les- Bains, Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse and Aillevillers.
