Mago I of Carthage

Mago was I. 550-530 BC King of Carthage. He was the progenitor of the Magonids, a powerful Carthaginian noble family and founded the Carthaginian power by replacing the citizens' militia by mercenary armies, in which the Carthaginians only as officers from serving himself. Mago placed the Carthaginian domination in Sardinia restore, which had been lost under the reign of his predecessor Malchus. His son Hasdrubal succeeded him to the throne in 530 BC Carthage.
