Magwi ( alternative spelling Magwe ) is a town in Eastern Equatoria State in South Sudan.

Magwi is the capital of the eponymous administrative district ( Magwi County) and seat of the Commissioner.

Location

50 km to the northeast lies Torit. 130 km ( straight line ) in the north- west lies the South Sudanese capital Juba, a trip by car takes about 4 hours. 70 km to the west flows the Nile, 60 km to the south runs the border with Uganda. It is close to some mountains, the eastern end of Magwi County levy is the Imatong Mountains. Neighboring towns of Magwi are Omeio directly in the east and Agoro, Okura and Gesiga.

Small, unpaved roads lead to Torit in the northeast, to Juba in the Northwest, according to Pageri and Nimule to the southwest and southeast over Palotaka after Pajok and Lobone on the border with Uganda.
