Magyarpolány

Magyarpolány [ mɒɟɒrpola ː ɲ ] ( German outdated: Polan ) is a town with about 1,200 inhabitants, mainly Swabian near Veszprém in Hungary.

History

Magyarpolány was first mentioned in 1171 as Polány documented.

Attractions

In Magyarpolány there are nearly a hundred farmhouses of Bakony. 43 of these preserve the former village image in a monumental road for the village the Europa Nostra Prize.

A well-known cultural monument is also the end of the 18th century applied Calvary. Along the 153 steps that lead to the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, to painted wooden statues lined. Each year in the Pentecostal week and in the next two weeks, a passion play is held.

An artists' colony in Magyarpolány round the year in operation, where in an environment of public monuments are job opportunities for those interested in workshops ( pottery workshop and workshop for graphic artist, theater in a barn, a blacksmith shop, wood carving in a shed, art room ).
