Mahmoud Messadi

Mahmoud Messadi ( born January 28, 1911 in Tazarka, † 2004 in Carthage ) was a Tunisian writer and politician.

Mahmoud Messadi applies in the Arab world as the founder of a particular literary school. He is one of the few modern writers of the 20th century, which have been able to represent the Oriental Arab soul together with their size and their contradictions artistic and revealing.

Messadi graduated from the Collège Sadiki in Tunis and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris Arabic language and literature. After the independence of Tunisia (1956 ), he was Minister of Education ( 1958-1968 ), then Minister of Culture ( 1973-1976 ).

The modernization of the Tunisian education system and the creation of the Tunisian University go back to him.
