Fremont's Mahonia ( Mahonia fremontii ) is a plant from the family of Barberry Family ( Berberidaceae ). It occurs in the states of California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Mexico.

Description

Fremont's Mahonia is an upright, cantilevered up to 3.5 meters tall shrub; The leaves are up to 10 inches long and from 3 to 7, wavy on rank, spiked, pointed serrate, oblong- lanceolate, waxy, frosted, yellow to gray- green pinnate leaves - assembled. The yellow flowers appear towards the end of winter and sit tight in up to 5 cm long racemes. In the fall of mature egg-shaped dark blue and white- frosted berries.

Use

This type is rarely used as an ornamental shrub in gardens and parks; it is very sensitive to frost.
