Maiden Newton is a village with 952 inhabitants ( 2001) and a civil parish in Dorset, England.

The place was in 1857 connected to the railway in the Wilts, Somerset and Weymouth Railway and was also the northern end of the Bridport Railway. While the railway was set to Bridport in 1975, Maiden Newton is still a breakpoint on the Heart of Wessex Line.

Maiden Newton was described by Thomas Hardy in his novels as fictional Wessex Chalk Newton, South Wessex.

The River Hooke opens in Maiden Newton in the River Frome.
