Maiden uniteD

Maiden uniteD is a Dutch- English music project. The musicians play songs of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden in acoustic versions. The project so far published two studio albums.

History

In 2006, bassist Joey Bruers was asked by the Dutch Iron Maiden Fan club if he could make a special show for Iron Maiden Convention, which went beyond the usual cover versions. With some of the musicians he played several songs from the band in acoustic versions, which were well received by the audience. Steve Harris, the bassist of Iron Maiden, saw the show and loved it. Together with the Within- Temptation guitarist Ruud Jolie arranged Bruers more songs of Iron Maiden new and was looking for musicians for the project.

Damian Wilson of the band Threshold took over the vocals. Marco Kuypers and Mike Coolen from the band Cloud Machine were committed for the piano or drums. As a guest singer Anneke van Giersbergen occurs, which became known with the band The Gathering. On 9 December 2010 published Maiden uniteD her self-produced debut album Mind the Acoustic Piece, on the full album Piece of Mind is gecovert acoustically. After a European tour in the spring of 2011 Maiden uniteD played in the summer of 2011 on the Music Festival Wacken Open Air and the Download Festival. After a short tour in January 2012, the band started the recordings for the second studio album Across the Seventh Sea, which was released in September.
