Mailleroncourt-Saint-Pancras

Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras is at an altitude of 290 m above sea level, 3 km east of Vauvillers and about 33 km north of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northern part of the department, on a ridge south of the valley of the coney, west of Charbeaumont on the edge of the plateau of La Voge.

The area of ​​14.90 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the east of the upper Saônetals. The central part of the area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 300 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. With 331 m is reached on the Charbeaumont east of the village is the highest elevation of Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras. The double municipality consists of the town Mailleroncourt (290 m) and the hamlet of Saint- Pancras (300 m). Neighboring communities of Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras are Pont -du- Bois, Ambiévillers and Le Magny in the north, Fontenois -la -Ville and concrete Court-Saint - Pancras in the east, and Girefontaine Melincourt in the south and Vauvillers in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Mailleroncourt in 1310. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the lords of Saint- Loup. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. 1806 merged Mailleroncourt and Saint- Pancras to double community. Today Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras is a member of the 20 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Belles Sources.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Pierre -et -Saint -Paul in 1785 rebuilt as a church hall in classic style and is classified as a monument historique. For notable appointments include the main altar, two groups of statues from the 18th century and various gold-plated statuettes. In the cemetery there is a Calvary of the 18th century. The old town is characterized by numerous houses from the 17th and 18th century, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône. Population

With 205 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 571 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Mailleroncourt -Saint- Pancras has long been a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture and animal husbandry ) and forestry embossed village. In the 19th century the economic life was determined by a blacksmith. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. At Coney is a power company. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D417 which leads from Luxeuil -les- Bains via Vauvillers after Bourbonne -les- Bains. Further road links exist with the Pont -du- Bois, Fontenois -la -Ville, Concrete Court-Saint - Pancras and Melincourt.
