Mainzer Straße

The Mainzer Straße in Wiesbaden takes its name from the fact that they were originally led to Mainz -Kastel, former right-bank district of Mainz.

The Mainzer Straße begins east of downtown as a branch to the south of the Frankfurt street and after crossing-free crossing beneath the Gustav -Stresemann -Ring ( 1 ring - Federal Road 54) as federal highway 263 in each direction, two-lane with bus lane and median strip expanded. The second ring ( Theodor -Heuss-Ring ) crosses the Mainzer Straße with a bridge structure. It is one next to the Schiersteiner road and the Berlin Street to the most important and best -developed entry and exit roads of the state capital of Hesse. It connects Wiesbaden with the junction Wiesbaden Mainzer Straße 66 A and with the beginning of the A 671 at the exit Mainz- Amoeneburg. At the roundabout located at the junction bends Mainzer Strasse to the southwest and leads under the railway triangle at Wiesbaden Ost train station through to its end point at the intersection with the road Bernkasteler.

South of the first ring opens the Mainzer Strasse with the skyscraper Terrum Tower at Mainzer Straße 75, several car dealerships, former factories and restaurants from fast food chains and electronics markets one of the few industrial areas near the downtown Wiesbaden. The development of this area was in the last decades of the 20th century a profound change subject by task of operating companies, whose demolition and subsequent redevelopment by other users. Were demolished as the building of the waste disposal companies which have received a new building complex at Dyckerhoff quarry, and the building of the former horticultural center ( here is since 2009 a Justice Center ). Also the abattoir site was almost completely razed to the ground after the slaughterhouse closed in late 1990 and the last establishments in the meat wholesale market had been resettled in 1994. There are there next to the convention parking for the Rhein- Main-Hallen only two buildings that are used as a cultural center.
