The Río Maipo

Río Maipo is a river in central Chile in the Capital Region ( Región Metropolitana ) and to a small extent in the Región de Valparaíso.

The Río Maipo is one of the longest rivers in Chile with around 250 km. It rises in the extreme southeast of the capital region at the foot of the 5,323 m high volcano Maipo in the Andes. Important tributaries are the Rio Yeso, the Río Colorado and Río Mapocho. The river is very popular with kayakers.

The river empties into the Pacific Ocean at Lloleo.
