Maipú, Chile

Maipú is a municipality located within Santiago de Chile, about 15 km southwest of its center. The settlement was only founded in the late 19th century grew up since about 1970 and is currently (as of 2008 ), with about 690,000 inhabitants, the most densely populated region of Chile. Maipú is known as the site of the last major battle in the war of independence against Spain and by an imposing Votive Church.
